Watch: Jimmy Buckley no stranger to the red carpet
Jimmy Buckley will feel at home in some ways when RTÉ roll out the red carpet for the Irish Country Music Awards on Friday night, with one of his most popular songs called 'Roll Out The Red Carpet!'
The Co Limerick native first came to prominence with his version of the Randy Travis song, 'Forever and Ever Amen', back in the mid-1990s.
Jimmy has been nominated in the Entertainer of the Year and the Male Artist of the Year categories and will be joining a host of other well known names for the big night.
The Co Limerick native first came to prominence with his version of the Randy Travis song, 'Forever and Ever Amen', back in the mid-1990s. For two decades, Jimmy and his band have been among the leading attractions on the country circuit here in Ireland.
His most successful song, 'Your Wedding Day', was composed by Henry McMahon, band lead with Big Tom and The Mainliners. Jimmy has also recorded some other songs composed by Henry over the years.
Like all the other nominees, Jimmy is thrilled to be part of the inaugural RTÉ Irish Country Music Awards night, in association with the Irish Farmers Journal, and expects a massive audience to tune in for the show on Friday night, June 24.
