The Deegan family (mum Carmel, dad Aidan, son James and daughters Saoirse, Grace and Aoife) have been spending lots of quality time together while practising social distancing at their home in Co Tipperary. With four kids who love to cook, they have been getting into the kitchen on a regular basis to make treats and dinners together!
For episode eight of Kids in the Kitchen, Grace, Saoirse and Aoife show daddy Aidan how to make pizza from scratch. Hopefully Aidan eventually learned how to do it properly!
If you have a budding chef in your house and you and your child would like to share what they're cooking up while they're home, we'd love to hear about it. Send your videos to ICL@farmersjournal.ie or Whatsapp to 0892499922.

The Deegans' pizza dough
Ingredients
1 packet dry active yeast
1 tbsp honey or sugar
300ml warm water
300g strong flour
1 tbsp rapeseed or olive oil
2 tsp salt
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine the yeast, honey (or sugar) and warm water. Leave for 5-10 minutes, until the yeast is activated (it will be bubbly and foamy).
2. Add in the flour, oil and salt and mix to form a loose dough.
3. On a floured surface, knead the dough until it feels smooth and elastic (around five minutes).
4. Lightly grease a bowl with oil and leave the dough, covered with a clean dish towel, to rise for one hour.
5. When the dough has risen, punch it down and reshape into a ball. Either leave in the fridge for several hours or overnight (recommended) or leave at room temperature for another 45 minutes to an hour for a second rise.
6. While rising the second time, preheat your oven to 220C.
7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and fit onto a pizza pan. Top with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and your favourite ingredients. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
