Normal business continued in Mayo Sligo Mart on Tuesday after the homecoming of Mayo's All-Ireland Senior Football champions.
Or at least things were normal until brothers Pat and Adrian Ruane arrived in style to catch the weekly general livestock sale.
The brothers painted the Mayo colours on the body of a helicopter on Saturday, ahead of the match, ‘for a bit of daftness’.
Speaking at the mart, Pat says he doesn’t think the win, the county's first such win since 1951, has ‘really sunk in’ with most people in Mayo:
“I got a call from my neighbour, Tony, this morning, and he was saying to me was it actually real, 75 years is a long time, it’s brilliant. There have been huge celebrations.”
From Australia to Mayo
Adrian is home from Australia and watched the match in Dublin on Sunday.
“I wasn’t meant to fly in here today but we got held up at the Galway races this morning," he says. "We needed to get to have a quick look at them and were here bidding at them now.”
With no room in the helicopter for any livestock, Adrian is hoping a couple of farmers will bring them back to Strade for him.
