Ciarán Lenehan visited the Russian beef giant Miratorg.
In May, Ciarán Lenehan was in Canada, and it was cold. There, he visited the Cattleland feedlot in Alberta, the country’s beef heartland.
A few weeks later, Thomas Hubert was in Kenya, and it was a lot warmer. He met farmer Amos Njuguna, who milks five cows and has big plans for expansion.
Miratorg is Russia’s largest beef producer, with 200,000 cows managed from farm to fork. Ciarán Lenehan toured the operation in September.
Further east, Aisling Hussey visited Vietnam, where the dairy industry is taking off. Vinamilk is one of the sector’s main players.
A few hours’ flight away, Japanese farmers get paid 80c/l for their milk. Thomas Hubert visited them in April.
Did you ever notice Chile as a country of origin when buying fruit in the winter? Lorcan Allen followed them to the source and took a tour of one of the country’s main fruit exporters.
