Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Galway, Mayo and Clare. The warning is valid from 4am on Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall has been forecast for Tuesday morning and afternoon, which may lead to excess surface water and accumulations of 20mm to 40mm.

The warning will remain in place until 4pm on Tuesday.

Blight warning

Met Éireann has also warned that weather conditions will be conducive to the spread of potato blight on Tuesday afternoon in west Connacht. These conditions will spread through much of Connacht, Leinster and Munster overnight before becoming more confined to southern coastal areas for Wednesday into Thursday.
