A good crowd is expected to attend a farm clearance auction near Craanford, Co Wexford on Friday afternoon, 26 April.
Father and son team William and Peter Doran are moving away from a tillage system to focus more on a new dairy enterprise, which Peter started three years ago.
“We used to grow about 150 acres of potatoes but have been cutting back every year. We now only grow 30 acres and with Peter starting up a dairy herd, there is no need for all our machines," said William.
The auction will take place on the Doran’s farm at Monbay, Craanford, Co Wexford (Eircode: Y25 C2P3) – about halfway between Gorey and Carnew.
Carnew Mart will be running the sale on behalf of the Doran’s, which will kick off at 1pm sharp. Lots are subject to VAT and auctioneers fees.
On the day there will be between 90 and 100 lots on auction, with a range of items big and small on offer – from vehicles and machinery to farm equipment and parts.
Auctioneer David Quinn said that the Doran’s are keen to sell and that the last week has seen significant interest from “near and far” for the clearance.
Probably the pick of the lots is a very fresh 2016 Fendt 516. With only 1,100 engine hours, this tractor is described as being "as good as new" and is guided at €85,000, before VAT.
A 2007 Fendt 716, which has recently had a new Vario transmission done will also go under the hammer, guided at €30,000.
In addition, a reconditioned 1997 Massy Ferguson 4270 with T120 Tanco loader is guided at €11,000 and a JCB Farm Master (€6,500) will be offered.
The Doran’s are selling a range of contracting machinery, including an 18ft Redrock silage trailer, a Grimme potato harvestor, a Deutz Fahr 2680 combine as well as ploughs, shear grabs, dung spreader, bale wrappers and hay bobs.
