Met Éireann has issued a yellow wind warning for the entire country from Tuesday evening.

It has forecast west to southwest winds of mean speeds 55km/h to 65km/h, gusting to 90km/h to 110km/h.

The winds will develop on Tuesday evening, continuing through Tuesday night and Wednesday. There is the potential for even stronger winds developing locally for a time on Tuesday evening, with damaging gusts.

Very high seas are expected along Atlantic coasts, with a risk of coastal flooding.

The yellow warning will apply from 5pm on Tuesday 2 January to 9pm on Wednesday 3 January.

Northwest

There is currently a yellow wind warning in place for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry until 4pm on Monday.

Northwesterly winds with mean speeds between 50km/h and 65km/h and gusts between 90km/h and 110km/h are expected along coastal areas on Monday.
