In July, the Irish Farmers Journal reported that midlands-based New Holland dealership WR Shaw was rumoured to be in the process of buying Lyons and Burton, another New Holland dealership with two premises – one in Kilcock, Co Kildare, and the other just outside Carlow town.

Managing director Billy Shaw has now confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal that WR Shaw has bought out Lyons and Burton and has officially moved into both depots.

Deal

“When Donald and Trevor Lyons looked to step away from their business in Kilcock and Carlow, they approached me with a view to me taking over both premises. After some thought and consideration, a deal was struck,” explained Shaw.

“Lyons and Burton Ltd is a well established and customer-focused business and I look forward to building lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with existing and new customers under the banner of Lyons and Burton Ltd,” he added.

Based in Tullamore, WR Shaw runs a successful New Holland dealership. Shaw says it intends to continue that standard of excellence in Kilcock and Carlow.

When asked what his plans were for Lyons and Burton, Billy Shaw noted: “Servicing of tractors and machines will be carried out in each of the branches with fully equipped workshops and highly trained technicians. Both branches will have fully stocked parts departments manned by experienced storemen. Going forward, both depots will continue to sell their current machinery lines.”

James Carroll will be managing both Lyons and Burton depots. Billy said that Carroll has 25 years’ experience working with New Holland products and he brings great knowledge and experience to the role.

With regard to the official New Holland territory for the Lyons and Burton dealership, no official announcement has yet been made.
