Meath is traditionally one of the most consistent land markets in Ireland in terms of price over the last number of years. Prices have remained at around €11,500/ac since 2013. High competition in the county as well as a desirable address ensures that the market is usually vibrant.

In fact last year, parcels over 40 acres sold for an average €12,230/ac, which was the fourth highest in the country. So Meath does pay well for larger holdings, the question is how well will the 67 acres at Newrath near Slane perform?

Reasonably guided at €670,000 or €10,000/ac, this holding is a super farm of grass. A non-residential holding, the property has been maintained to a high standard. With fertile limestone soils, the farm is free draining and laid out in five fields. Local farmers are said to be interested at this early stage for the fattening farm. The farm is ready to use and this will no doubt encourage bidders.

The auctioneer handling the sale is John B Harrington of Smith Harrington. When speaking with the agent, it was clear that some sales were difficult this year. He will be hoping that the evident quality that this property possesses will be enough to spur the interest to get the farm sold. The fact that this would be arable ground also serves as an advantage.

Offered via private treaty, Lisney is the co-agent on this sale.
