A large 104-acre property has just been launched to the market at Slatt Upper, Wolfhill, Co Laois, by selling agent Joe Coogan auctioneers. The farm is laid out in the shape of a horse shoe and will be offered in the entire or in two separate lots. These may be more manageable sizes for local farmers, while the entire may be large enough to appeal to someone outside of the locality.

The first lot is made up of circa 54 acres and comes with a derelict farmhouse that could be restored. There is also a range of farm buildings in place including a large A-roof shed with a feeding passage, lean-to with cubicles and a three-span round roof shed. There is accommodation for over 60 cattle in place on the farm. Lot one contains the better-quality land on offer and is good grazing ground with drystock traditionally kept on the farm. This lot is being guided at €490,000 or €9,074/ac.

The remaining 50 acres of the farm is being offered in lot two. This land is a mixed lot and has been described as being suitable for summer grazing with 10 acres of this lot poorer quality. A portion of this block would still be suitable for silage production if desired. The guide for lot two is €7,000/ac.

The entire 104 acres is also being offered with a guide price currently of just over €8,000/ac or €840,000. The lands are located 10 miles from Carlow and Athy, and 14 miles from Portlaoise.

The land is being offered for sale by public auction on Friday 4 October at 3pm at the Auction Room, Ballycomey House, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny.
