Approximately 2,000 young bulls were loaded on an approved livestock carrier in Port of Cork on Wednesday for export to Libya. The shipment included some 500 beef-bred bulls and 1,500 dairy-type bulls.

Curzon Livestock hopes to secure further orders through 2020.

Meanwhile, Department of Agriculture officials met with the IFA and ICMSA representatives this week on the issue of dairy calf exports to EU markets. They reviewed 2020 exports, including all welfare issues, and plans for the 2021 season. Further meetings are planned with the next to be in September.
