Local farmers bought a 58ac farm at Rathmoley, Killenaule, Co Tipperary, after auction on 22 October.

While unsold at auction, the property was sold in two divisions to local farmers immediately after the auction. The sale was handled by PF Quirke & Co Ltd, Clonmel.

Auctioneer Pat Quirke would not comment on the price achieved, but it was guided in the region of €6,500/ac to €7,000/ac.

The land varies from good to poor, having been let for over 20 years.

“The land needs substantial investment to bring it to a better standard, with drainage being a priority,” Quirke said.

“The house has not been lived in for upwards of 30 years and is in very poor condition.”
