Beef prices are finally turning a corner with factories increasing prices by 5c/kg in a bid to entice higher numbers forward.

Steers are trading in greater numbers on a base of €3.95/kg to €4.00/kg.

More sellers are securing €4.05/kg to €4.10/kg for heifers.

Plants have yet to resume normal processing with IFA’s Angus Woods saying “there is clearly some pent up retail and wholesale demand from the weather disruptions in both Ireland and the UK. Last week’s kill fell back to less than 25,000 adult cattle and this is also driving demand”.
