Tipperary-based Abbey Machinery has recently introduced a new Plus size range of diet feeders, which the firm say has stemmed from customer demand due to increasing herd sizes.

The new Plus range is made up of the VF2450, VF2650, VF2850 and VF3050. The numbering on the range refers to the feeders’ capacities, starting at 24.5m3 and ranging up to 30.5m3.

Abbey says the new range offers extra strength and versatility. The feeders have a 50% thicker auger for extended working. Other updates include a wider base and an improved gearbox mounting flange for improved mixing performance with enhanced support and strength.

All the machines come on tandem axles. Other innovations include horizontal and tilting monitor support to keep operators further away from the PTO shaft for increased safety. It includes a serial port and auto-on for added versatility.

A new door design delivers improved flow of material, positioning the feed to the centre of the door as it exits the feeder for more even and rapid feed-out. A safety platform and folding ladder for easier viewing into the mixing chamber comes as standard. Prices for the twin Plus models start at about €53,000 plus VAT.
