The 70-year-old Tipperary-based company Abbey Machinery is bringing its range of slurry-management and diet-feeding technologies to this year’s ploughing. Abbey is giving attendees a multitude of reasons to visit its stand with a large selection of technologies to cater for the “total cow”.

Diet-feeding technologies

The recently launched 33.5m3 tri-auger diet feeder will be on the Abbey stand. This feeder with tandem-axle steering, a two-speed gearbox, various feed-out options and six weigh cells is connected to the Digi-Star management feeding system. This machine works on a minimal horsepower requirement of 160hp.

Abbey are promoting this machine to those who have larger-than-average herds and want to get though the daily feeding quicker without compromising on performance. For farmers with smaller herds, Abbey will also have the 24m3 VF 2450 on display and the new TMR Tracker for farmers looking to monitor feeding consistency and measure performance.

Abbey will officially launch its 7.5m tri-app slurry applicator. The key features of this applicator are vertically folding galvanised boom, close mounting to the slurry tank to maximise weight transfer to the drawbar, an optional A-frame for carrying a roll of lay-flat hose and the option to attach an umbilical hose. In addition to the tri-app, there will also be a vertical trailing shoe applicator on display. These machines present the slurry below the crop canopy right on to the soil in discrete lines that eliminate foliage contamination and maximise efficiency of getting the slurry into the root zone where it is needed.

Slurry tankers on the stand will range in size from 1,300 to 4,000 gallons in single- to tri-axle format. To assist farmers to maximise the use of slurry, a new slurry management guide will be introduced.

The Abbey Machinery stand number is 448, block two, row 20 .
