Apache Pizza, the largest pizza chain franchise in Ireland, has been bought out by a joint venture with links to Ornua. Telepizza, a Spanish company, acquired the chain with OKR, which runs the Burger King franchise.

In 2014, Ornua bought the cheese factory production assets from Luxtor, a subsidiary company of Telepizza. Within this deal Ornua secured a long-term contract (12 years) to supply Telepizza with cheese.

The factory is located one hour north west of Madrid and employs around 120 people.

Telepizza, was founded in 1987 and has a market share of nearly five times the second best-known brand in Spain.

This deal marks Telepizza’s first entry into Ireland. It has 1,400 outlets globally.

Ornua’s factory, which is located at Avila, was severely damaged by a fire last November. Production at the plant has moved mainly to Ornua’s UK facilities while the factory is being rebuilt.
