Accounts filed with the companies office (CRO) show Donegal Meat Processors made a net profit of just under €334,000 last year. The company had racked up net losses of €1.4m the previous year.
Donegal reported sales of €106m for the year, up 4% compared to 2017. The business recorded gross profits of €5.1m, with gross profit margins relatively tight at 4.8%. The company recorded an operating profit of just over €782,000, a significant improvement on the €707,000 loss recorded in 2017 and the €2.2m loss made in 2016. The net assets of the business increased to more than €715,000.
Donegal Meat Processers employs more than 220 people at its abattoir and boning hall in Carrigans, Co Donegal, slaughtering between 50,000 and 60,000 head of cattle per year. The company was previously owned by Larry Goodman.
