Aldi has announced an extension of its sponsorship of the Angus all-Ireland bull calf championship until 2022.

This represents an investment of €100,000 over the next four years by Aldi, ABP Ireland and the Irish Angus Cattle Society.

“We are delighted to extend our sponsorship of the Aldi Irish Angus all-Ireland bull calf championships for another four years,” Aldi’s group buying director John Curtin said.

"We have a long-standing commitment to supporting Ireland’s Angus cattle breeders and Irish beef. Our complete range of fresh beef is Bord Bia-assured, ensuring the finest quality Irish beef is made available to our customers across the country.”

Sponsors

Aldi and ABP Ireland have sponsored the event since 2012 and during that time have seen a 40% increase in entries for the competition.

Aldi accounts for one third of Angus retail sales in Ireland.

The president of the Irish Angus Cattle Society John O’Sullivan said the support the breed received from its sponsors was “invaluable".

The chair of Iverk Show, Robert Dowley also added that: "The committee and members of the Iverk Show, Irelands oldest agricultural show, are delighted that Aldi, ABP Ireland and the Irish Angus Cattle Society are extending their sponsorship of the very prestigious “All Ireland Bull Calf Championships” by four years with the finals to be held at the Iverk Show. This year’s show is on Saturday, August 24."
