The Department of Agriculture have begun the process of issuing area monitoring system (AMS) notifications for potential differences in crop categories and potential ineligible land uses.

With regards an incorrect crop AMS notification this occurs where a difference crop category is identified by AMS as what has been declared on the 2026 Basic Income Support for Sustainability application.

The other AMS notification relating to no evidence of agricultural activity is where the AMS has indicated that production of agricultural products such as livestock or growing crops or maintenance of the agricultural area was not evident.

The closing date for response is 1 September 2026.

Farmers who are signed up to receive Department of Agriculture SMS/text messages will receive notification telling them that an AMS notification has issued.

An AgriSnap request is provided for each parcel with an AMS notification. A response to both the AMS notification and supporting AgriSnap is required to complete the response. It is also important to note that the response to an AMS notification cannot be amended or reopened once submitted.
