The Irish Angus Cattle Society are holding their 12th Annual Elite Show and Sale in the Showgrounds, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Roscommon, this Saturday 14 December.

This is usually the highlight sale in the Angus sales calendar with a number of top-priced animals trading hands. Last year saw the overall male champion Lavally Prince sell to Dovea Genetics for the top male price of €5,400 while females peaked at €5,800 for Carrigroe Pearl.

A total of 60 bulls and 34 heifers are catalogued for this year, including many prize winners and champions from the 2019 show circuit.

All entries are export-tested, sire-verified, exhibitor-bred, BVD-negative, myostatin-tested and pre-sale inspected.

Show starts at 9am, with the sale to commence at 12pm. A €400 premium is again offered to the purchaser of the top-priced bull and heifer. There is also a premium of €200 for the second highest-priced bull and heifer.

While a tough trade has been seen at a number of other breeds sale this autumn, breeders are hoping the Angus trade witnessed at Dungannon last week and indeed the flying trade in Elphin at the Charolais Cracker will continue for a further week.
