Gardaí said they have arrested a man in his 50s as part of their investigation into the death of a woman following an incident on a farm in Boula, Portumna, Co Galway on 27 April.

The woman in her mid-70s died after being struck by machinery and gardaí conducted a forensic examination of the scene at the time, indicating they were "investigating all of the circumstances" surrounding the death.

The man was detained at Loughrea Garda station under Section Four of The Criminal Justice Act 1984, which allows for questioning for up to 12 hours.
