Meat processor Ashbourne Meats, which has exported premium beef all over the world since 1985 and employs over 200 people, is looking for people to fill positions in procurement, technical, sales, animal welfare, supply chain management and accounts at this year’s Agri Careers Fair.

The beef processor will also be looking for five boning hall operatives and five slaughter hall operatives.

“With more cattle on the horizon and more markets opening, we’re going to need more skilled people to match the Foodwise 2025 vision for the beef industry in Ireland,” says HR officer Donal Houlihan.

The roles will be based in either its Naas or Roscrea facilities.

Procurement

As a member of the procurement team, you will be viewing cattle and liaising with farmers, buying cattle and matching cattle to sales orders.

Technical

This individual will be given the responsibility of carrying out quality control checks on the product, as well as dealing with customer-specific issues. They must also deal with customer and regulatory audits.

Sales

The chosen individual will carry out market research on new markets and will be involved in product development. An element of international travel will be involved in the role, as well as customer management.

Animal welfare

This role requires an individual who can ensure cattle are in a fit state for slaughter. The individual will deal with farmers and inspect cattle on arrival.

Supply chain management

The individual will be arranging the delivery of goods to customers and dealing with international transport companies to ensure timely delivery. They will be dealing with the sales team to ensure the produce meets the required specifications.

Accounts

This individual will work on cost analysis, credit controls and on costumer account reports.

Boning hall operatives

Full training on all steps of the deboning process will be provided to the five individuals that are chosen. Individuals will debone the meat, trim and weigh it.

Again, full training will be provided. The individual will learn how to slaughter the cattle and will be fully trained on machine operations, carcase-cutting and offal recovery.
