Baltinglass Mart in Co Wicklow has taken the decision to postpone its resumption to trading in 2021 by one week.
The first sheep sale is now planned to take place on Saturday 16 January, with the first cattle sale due to be held on Wednesday 20 January.
Mart manager Joe Kinsella said the decision to postpone the mart’s reopening was taken to protect the mart’s staff and all its customers.

“We feel the decision to postpone the sheep and cattle sale by one week will help protect our staff and customers and also hopefully contribute to the overall goal of reducing the prevalence of coronavirus in the community,” he said.
Carnaross Mart
Carnaross Mart also took the decision on Friday to postpone its opening sales of 2021 for another week, with the first cattle sale now planned to take place on Monday 16 January.
This follows several other marts taking a similar decision to postpone sales earlier this week.
