The beef trade remains in a steady position this week, with bullocks moving at quotes of €6.60-€6.70/kg and heifers at €6.70-€6.80/kg. Factory agents are actively canvassing for stock, with some concerned around supplies towards May and June.

R-grading bulls are coming in at €6.70/kg to €6.80/kg and U-grading bulls are being quoted at €6.80-€6.90/kg. R-grading cows are being priced at €6.40/kg to €6.50/kg

Last week’s kill came in at 30,512 head, with the four-day week having very little impact on numbers. Most factories are only killing three to four days a week. Last week’s kill continues to run just over 5,000 head behind the same week in 2025, with the annual kill to date running almost 80,000 head behind last year.

There remains a 50c/kg gap between the Irish and British price, with a 40c/kg gap in the Bord Bia tracker between the Irish price and that of our main markets. Beef quotes in NI remain steady, with £6.32-£6.34/kg (€7.59-€7.61/kg including VAT). Tight supplies both north and south of the border continue to underpin the price.
