Golden Vale Marts, Carrigallen, will hold a special sale of cattle coming from TB-restricted holdings this Monday evening (17 November), with the sale kicking off at 4.30pm.

A total of 10 different lots will be included in the sale, with a total of 52 cattle included in the sale.

The sale will be completed 100% online, with only TB-restricted holdings approved by the Department off Agriculture able to bid on the cattle at the online sale.

Any TB-restricted unit that wishes to bid on the cattle in the sale should contact the mart prior to the sale to make sure they are approved to bid.

Popularity

Sales of cattle from TB-restricted holdings have been growing in popularity over recent months, with this sale being the third sale which Carrigallen has completed in the last few weeks.

Commenting on the sale, mart manager Helen Kells said: “We have had a lot of enquiries from farmers in the northwest who are currently dealing with TB on their farms.

"Up to this point, they have been curtailed in where they can sell their animals, so it’s great to be able to help them out.”
