Tuesday’s weanling sale in Ennis Mart saw a serious trade for heavy feeding bulls and top-quality weanling bulls. However, R grade bulls and average-quality weanling bulls and heifers were harder to sell at times. Average-quality heifer prices were back about €60 to €70/head on the same sale last year, while the better-quality bulls were back by €30 to €40/head. R grade bulls were easier than last year by €70 to €80/head. Store cattle, in contrast, are a fair trade, with those from 400kg to 500kg well improved on previous weeks. Again, the better-quality stores are being met with the best demand.
