Conditions conducive to the spread of potato blight are forecast through to Monday morning, Met Éireann has said. Meanwhile, the extended drought warning remains in place until Wednesday.

Soil moisture deficits are very high, ranging from 55 to 65mm in west Ulster and west Connacht. Elsewhere, values are running between 75 and 95mm, with most places running with a deficit in excess of 80mm and with the highest deficits over east and south Leinster. There will be some alleviation in northwest parts in the coming days but little alleviation elsewhere.

There is still a high or extreme level forest fire warning in operation in many areas for a time but reducing to medium or low in the north, northwest and near the southwest coast. Drying will be moderate to good early next week. Some sunny spells but cloudy periods too, generally light winds, some mostly light showers.
