Met Éireann has extended the existing status yellow weather warning until Wednesday, 18 July.

The forecaster stated that despite small amounts of rainfall predicted to fall over the coming days, there would be "no significant impact" due to evapotranspiration rates.

The warning will comes as many farmers across the country have been forced to feed stock with winter fodder as growth rates remain low.

Concerns are also growing regarding water shortages, with reports that some wells are drying out and a number of tillage farmers are resorting to crop irrigation in an attempt to salvage harvests.

The risk of wildfire remains high, with fire services reporting that they've received over 400 calls in the last month.
