The Dealer has heard that Teagasc has signed up Professor Gerry Boyle for another term at the helm of the organisation.
I understand that the Tipperary native has signed up for another four year term.
The renewal will be seen as a sign of approval from the board of Teagasc that the organisation is heading in the right direction.
In the past Boyle's name was linked to a number of other positions including the director general of the Irish Farmers Association (IFA).
However if the current speculation is true, it looks like the Teagasc boss is going nowhere.
Boyle was before the Oireachtas this week, flanked by his tillage specialist Michael Hennessy and head of the crops department John Spink from Oakpark as TD Pat Deering and other members of the Dail queried the Teagasc team about the future of tillage in Ireland.
The TDs asked for an update on the cereal harvest and quizzed the Teagasc team on technical details impacting on cereal production in Ireland.
