A €5/week increase will be applied to social welfare payments, including Farm Assist, Minister Paschal Donohoe has confirmed.

“Last year I was in a position to increase all social welfare payments and I’m pleased to announced that I can do the same for 2019,” Minister Donohoe said.

In addition, Minister Donohoe confirmed that the social welfare Christmas bonus would be fully restored.

  • The increase will apply from March next year and will increase weekly Farm Assist payments from €198 to €203.
  • At the end of 2017, some 7,234 people were in receipt of Farm Assist payments, which is available to farmers.
