There was an excellent cattle sale at Enniskillen Mart this week, with another big entry of stock on offer.

Prices reached were the highest for the year to date, with more than 1,000 cattle sent forward for sale.

Bullocks sold to a peak of £1,370, with 200p/kg to 239p/kg on offer for good-quality forward lots. Several lots weighing 525kg to 600kg sold from £1,200 to £1,300.

Midweight bullocks sold from 210p/kg to 258p/kg, with £1,100 being paid for a 430kg Charolais animal. Lighter types sold from 215p/kg to 250p/kg, with a 374kg animal making £935.

Heifers

Beef heifers sold from 200p/kg to 215p/kg, with a top price of £1,340 paid on a 640kg Belgian Blue animal, while a 560kg Charolais made £1,205.

Store heifers sold from 200p/kg to 265p/kg, with animals weighing 400kg to 500kg making £990 to £1,245 for good-quality continental types.

Weanlings

Weanlings sold from £650 to £1,150 for steers and bull calves, while heifer prices ranged from £500 to £865 depending on quality.

Cows

Suckler cows sold to £1,720 for a Salers cow with bull calf at foot, followed by £1,660 for a Limousin cow with a heifer calf. Springing heifers sold to £1,080.

Cull cows sold to £1,600 for an 880kg Charolais. Other noted prices saw top-quality lots making £1,330 to £1,370 or up to 199p/kg.

Feeding cows made 198p/kg to 210p/kg, with £1,140 paid for a 576kg Charolais. Friesian cows sold to 90p/kg.

Calves

Calves sold to a top price of £380 for a Charolais bull calf. Blue calves sold to £350 for a bull and £250 for a heifer. Angus bull calves sold to 355, matched by Limousin bulls. Friesian calves sold to £98.
