Airfield Estate

In 2024, Certified Irish Angus announced a new strategic partnership with Airfield Estate to educate consumers about sustainable beef production. Building on Airfield’s hands-on teaching approach, the partnership involves Certified Irish Angus cattle being reared on the Airfield Estate farm in south Dublin. It’s accessible to all visitors and further educational resources will give visitors a greater understanding of quality beef production.

A substantial part of the display will be the hugely popular Certified Irish Angus School Competition.

Five new finalist schools from around the country will meet and be presented with their five Angus-cross calves to take home and rear.

Three students entered the competition last October and have progressed through interviews and vigorous assessment by industry experts to reach this stage of the competition. These students will be on hand to explain their research projects, which span an 18-month period, as they raise their calves to maturity, ultimately producing Tesco Finest Certified Irish Angus beef.

The partnership of Certified Irish Angus, ABP and Kepak has been delivering substantial value to beef farmers over the past 28 years in the form of consistent, reliable bonuses for suitable animals. Further developments have been added in recent years and now individual sustainability bonus programmes are available through ABP and Kepak respectively.

The ABP advantage programme staff will be on hand to discuss the support and sustainability bonus that are available. Kepak’s Twenty20 programme staff will also be in attendance to promote the benefits of partnering with your local Tirlán supplier and the economic benefits that gives calf-to-beef farmers.

Senior personnel from both processors will be front and centre on all three days to explain how these new and exciting initiatives can benefit farmers.

Breed improvement programme

In 2022, Certified Irish Angus developed its elite breed improvement programme. This is operated in association with leading Tipperary genetics company, Dovea Genetics.

Certified Irish Angus staff will explain the financial benefits of the programme, along with cross-sectoral solutions to benefit pedigree breeders, dairy farmers and beef producers.

Over the three days there will be panel discussions on agri-sustainability and what the future holds for the sector. Finalists from previous years, along with members of the ABP and Kepak graduate programmes, will discuss the opportunities for career progression and how the schools competition can help guide you on that journey. Speakers will also discuss the benefits of Certified Irish Angus beef as part of a balanced diet and the nutritional benefits that are available from such a sustainable protein source.

So, don’t miss out on the stand that has something for everyone –including the best beef sandwiches.
