FBD is to appoint a new chief commercial officer. John Cahalan has spent 11 years with Axa and was responsible for its branch network, call centres and online channel. Prior to Axa, Cahalan’s career was with GE Capital. He will join the business in July.
FBD chief executive Fiona Muldoon said she was pleased that FBD was in a position to attract a candidate of Cahalan’s calibre and experience.

The move comes following the departure of Jim Ryan, who had spent less than 12 months in the role. At last week’s AGM, Liam Herlihy became chairman of FBD, while shareholders were also told that IFA president Joe Healy was to join the board in the coming weeks.
