Cattle breeders in the Republic of Ireland and the UK face potential losses of millions of euro because of questions about the parentage of the pedigree Limousin bull Ballinloan Jaegerbomb.

Fifty-nine animals with the Ballinloan prefix and progeny of Ballinloan animals had their passports withdrawn by the British Cattle Movement Service last week because of “errors relating to the registration of either the date of birth and/or parentage of animals”.

Questions about the pedigree of the 24,000gns Jaegerbomb first emerged in April 2018, when his recorded dam was changed.
