Strong prices continue to be paid for good farmland. A 50.5ac farm near Gorey in Co Wexford was sold in recent days for €18,000/ac by Quinn Property.
The farm at Monagreana Lower, Monamolin, was bought at an online auction by a local dairy farmer. It was previously run as a dairy farm and has a range of farm sheds. There is also a 200-year-old two-storey stone-built house in need of renovation.
The farm was offered in lots and bid to a total of €570,000. The entire was then offered and it was bid to €800,000. At that point, it was formally put on the market and three bidders took the price up to €905,000, at which it was sold.

Auctioneer David Quinn said that nine people registered to attend the auction but only four of them got to make bids, such was the interest.
He also sold a 123ac farm at Walterstown, Hollywood, Co Wicklow in recent days, before auction. The farm, with a small house in need of renovation, made over the guide price of €650,000.
