The founder of Kerry-based dairy equipment manufacturer Dairymaster Edmond ‘Ned’ Harty of Ballinoe, Causeway, has passed away, the company has announced.

Harty had been managing director of the company until his passing, which has been described as peaceful but unexpected on his RIP.ie death notice.

"A natural-born engineer, Ned had an extraordinary gift for innovation. What seemed like common sense to him amazed others, who marvelled at his creativity.”

Since its founding in the 1960s, Dairymaster has grown to employ almost 400 people at its 11ac manufacturing site in Causeway.

It has customers in more than 40 countries, with bases in both the UK and the US serving clients of the company’s milking equipment, feeding equipment, automatic slurry scrapers, milk tanks and health monitoring system offering.
