High protein products are getting more prominence in supermarkets in recent years.

Protein is the biggest nutritional trend in recent time and there’s no sign of it slowing down with almost double-digit growth expected over the next decade.
Speaking at the Listowel Food Fair event on Monday night last, Olga Mulvey, category controller with Kerry Dairy Ireland said: “We see protein products going to grow by 8.4% each year for the next seven to 10 years.”
This is occurring right across all ages but protein is very much in demand with younger consumers as 60% of them actively seek it out she said.
