Dawn Meats has bought the Jasper beef abattoir and boning facility in Treburley, Cornwall. The plant has a capacity to kill up to 1,000 cattle per week and the deal was concluded for an undisclosed sum.

Owned by the Jasper family, the deal sees them and their staff continuing in the business. Niall Browne, CEO Dawn Meats, welcomed this continuity adding that the plant is well invested in and operates to the highest of standards. David Jasper said they have “known and done business with Dawn Meats for many years”.

Dawn Meats was established in 1980 and is reported to have a turnover of €1 billion. It runs operations in Britain, France and Ireland. The company employs 2,700 people.

This brings the number of Dawn Meats primary processing facilities in Britain to six. Dawn has an existing abattoir nearby in Devon.
