Farmers participating in the Young Farmers Scheme (YFS) and partnerships are reporting being on the end of stringent inspections from the Department of Agriculture.

No different than any other scheme, 5% of the participants are subject to an inspection from the Department of Agriculture each year.

Farmers are reporting to the Irish Farmers Journal that they are being asked to specifically identify, to the date, when the last TB herd test was, whether or not they have a joint bank account with their partner and, if so, they are being asked what the last number of transactions were used for.

In relation to the bank account, participants are being checked to ensure that the BPS is going to a joint account and the bank account is being actively used.
