Farmers applying to enter a registered farm partnership (RFP) have been advised by the Department of Agriculture to do so by Friday 28 February.

The Department said that although applications to the farm partnership register are accepted year-round, in order for a partnership to be registered in time for the BPS deadline of 15 May applications must be submitted before the end of February.

Farmers are also required to submit the following documents:

  • 1. Completed checklist.
  • 2. Completed application form.
  • 3. Completed bank details.
  • 4. A signed copy of the partnership agreement.
  • 5. Copy of folio of all owned lands.
  • 6. Copy of leases for all lands leased in.
  • 7. Evidence of agricultural qualifications for category ii partners.
  • 8. Copy of on-farm agreement.
  • Application

The Department has advised that where a partnership operates under a single herd number, all partners must have their names added to that herd number. Where a partnership has more than one herd number, these numbers must stay in the name of the individual owner.

The Department unit which deals with partnerships will issue the partnership with an RFP number once the application is processed and added to the register. This number should be used to apply for the BPS, ANC, young farmer schemes and TAMS.

Farmers establishing farm partnerships can also avail of the collaborative farming grant scheme.

The payment is calculated at up to 50% of the vouched (VAT-exclusive) cost for each of the legal, advisory and financial service incurred in the drawing up of a farm partnership agreement, up to a maximum payment of €2,500.
