Green diesel prices have fallen in recent weeks and are in the range of 40c/l to 45c/l plus 13.5% VAT this week, depending on order size, how frequently you order, your location and payment terms.

Farmers buying 1,200l and doing so once or twice per year will be at the higher end of this range. Farmers or contractors buying 3,000l and upwards, and doing so every month, will be at the lower end.

Membership of a buying group can also get you down into the lower prices, even for infrequent buyers. The above prices equal 45.4c/l and 51c/l when VAT is included.

Green diesel prices are, of course, following international oil prices, which are now about $39 to $41 per barrel

Diesel prices were at similar levels in June, but increased by 2c/l to 4c/l in July and August when coronavirus looked to be coming under control in many countries.

However, when the ongoing second waves took hold in early September, oil prices slipped down again.

Since then they have moved up and down by 1c/l and 2c/l each week but are staying within a narrow range.

Green diesel prices are, of course, following international oil prices, which are now about $39 to $41 per barrel. The general expectation is that oil prices will not rise hugely ahead of economic recovery, barring dramatic cuts in production or some similar unexpected development.
