Erth Engineering’s new panbuster aims to help farmers deal with the difficult soil conditions that result from extreme weather.

Weather patterns are becoming more extreme throughout the world. The west of Ireland turned very wet mid-2016 and for that matter a similar weather pattern has occurred from mid-2017.

When weather like this happens and stock remain in the field, the ground will compact from the surface downwards. Water will be slow to perforate into the soil – the soil will show waterlogging in the top 3in to 6in but the soil beneath will be quite firm and free-draining.

The solution is either to plough or panbust the soil. The drainage system in the field may be fine but the water needs help (air spaces in the soil) to get to the drainage system and effect drainage.

Erth Engineering’s Grass Panbuster can operate down to a claimed 15in, with roller providing a smooth finish.

After the prolonged winter we are just starting to climb out of, there is bound to be damage done to fields where this machine may be the fix that is required.
