Farmers and business have been assured that they will be unaffected as Danske move to close current accounts from this weekend.

In October 2013, Danske announced it would exit the Irish market and gave three months’ notice to its customers to switch providers. The first tranche of closures commences this weekend the bank has confirmed.

While the bank still intends on a full exit from the Irish market in 2014, Danske confirmed to the IFA on Friday morning that “business/farmer current accounts are not being discontinued this weekend”.
