Over 230 finalists, from 23,600 applicants, qualified to showcase their ideas at this year’s student enterprise national finals held in Croke Park on Wednesday.

Abbey Bread, run by Manus Heenan from Roscrea Cistercian school, came out on top, securing top prize in the senior category for a ready-made bread mix.

Lift Arm Assist scooped top prize in the intermediate category for their safety-conscious hydraulic ram.

The junior category was won by Complete Camán from Presentation, Castleisland, Co. Kerry for their novel ball tied to a hurl idea.

Minister for Trade, Employment and Business Pat Breen addressed the crowd on the importance to encourage innovation in school, saying; “If we don’t innovate we will evaporate.”
