As The Dealer was heading out the gate of the Farm Centre on Wednesday night, the Irish Limousin Cattle Society was holding its first ever online AGM on Zoom.

I’m reliably informed the mute button might have come into play, with some breeders very disappointed with the outcome of the recent premier sale of bulls. There was many a pedigree breed society chair in the past who would have liked access to a mute button at annual AGMs.

The society is also back on the lookout for a new breed secretary after Paul Sykes stepped down from his role (again).

Mayo man Michael Oliver and Meath man William Smith are in the race for a position on the Limousin council.

Both men have been active in recent weeks on social media pitching their manifestos, and both have high profile canvassers making calls on their behalf.

Will it be the year for Meath or will it be Mayo? Time will tell.
