Farmland for sale was scarcer than ever in Dublin last year but that didn’t stop average price slipping by 4% on the year before.

Just seven farms meeting our criteria were placed on the market, down from 11 the year before. These seven farms comprised 227ac in total, which was down from a total of 355ac in 2021.

A significant number of other land holdings were offered for sale but were excluded from our calculations, mostly on the basis that they were too small and had added site and commercial value.

Just four of the seven properties were sold by year end. The average sale price was €19,312/ac, down from €20,065/ac the year before. The decrease was €752/ac.

Among the larger holdings that came on the market were 58ac from JP&M Doyle at Broghan, The Ward.

Wilson Auctions successfully sold two holdings at Ballyboughal, one of 56ac and the other 31ac.
