FBD Group chair, Michael Berkery, is set to retire from the FBD board having served almost 30 years as a director of the company. For 20 of those years, he has served as chair. In February 2016, he announced his intention to retire at the 2017 AGM, which takes place this Friday. The odds-on favourite to take up the chair is Waterford dairy farmer Liam Herlihy, former chair of Glanbia who joined the board of FBD in 2015.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to hear what shareholders will have to say regarding the bonus structure relating to chief executive Fiona Muldoon. Comments from advisory bigwigs ISS have criticised the levels of disclosure surrounding the bonus scheme at the insurer, which saw Muldoon get paid almost €900,000 in 2016, which included the €315,000 bonus, double her pay a year earlier.
