Having made its first public appearance at Agritechnica in 2017, Fendt has since made a number of updates to the E100 Vario as result of three years practical testing and having investigated further potential uses of the machine.

Given the lack of DC superchargers on farms and within the municipal sector, the E100 Vario is now equipped with a Type 2 charging socket and a charging cable for 400V sockets up to 32A. This equates to a charging capacity of around 22kW, meaning the battery can be fully charged in under five hours.

An update as result of testing was the thermal management system, allowing the battery to be preheated to operating temperatures during cold winter weather and cool it in the summer for best performance all year round.

Fendt says the E100 Vario is a perfect fit for energy producing farms

The fully electric E100 Vario has been demonstrated at various practical applications with hydraulic and PTO driven implements, including tedders, rakes and feed mixers. The E100 Vario is compatible with new electrically powered implements as well as existing attachments.

Fendt says the E100 Vario is a perfect fit for energy producing farms, creating a closed energy circuit minimising the use of fossil fuels and lowering CO2 emissions.

It is believed the E100 Vario was originally planned to go on sale this year. However, this has been delayed until 2024 due to battery prices, which – although have reduced in recent years – is still not cheap enough.
