Agri Aware has launched a new social media campaign to help farmers highlight their efforts to produce quality homegrown products this Christmas.

The festive social media video campaign called ‘savour local flavour this Christmas’ is aiming to recognise and also support the work that Irish farmers do around the clock.

The campaign is farmer-driven and is asking farmers to introduce themselves, proudly showcase the food they produce and talk about the role agriculture plays in putting food on tables, all in 30 seconds.

Participants are asked to tag @agriware on all social media platforms and use the hashtag #savourlocal when posting their videos on social media.

Launch

Speaking on the launch of the campaign, Agri Aware chair Shay Galvin said: “It’s critical that we continue to highlight the hard work farmers do to produce quality sustainable food.

“At a time when Irish farmers are under pressure to remain viable be it due to economic, policy or environmental pressures, it’s important we take a step back and remember the work farmers do across all sectors to put food on our tables.”

Mr Galvin also said that this campaign will put faces on the produce and give credit where it’s not often given in the run-up to Christmas.

“We are asking farmers across the country from all sectors to showcase who they are, their produce and the important role that agriculture plays in feeding consumers nationally and internationally through this festive period.

The campaign will be running until Sunday 24 December.
