Arrabawn received planning permission this week for a €30m investment programme to double capacity at its casein plant in Nenagh. This includes permission to relocate its entrance to the Martyr’s Road roundabout.

Award

Meanwhile, Arrabawn and NVP Energy have received a joint Energy Globe Foundation award for its wastewater treatment system at Kilconnell, Co Galway.

The wastewater treatment, developed by NVP Energy, became operational at the Kilconnell plant in April 2017.

The technology produces biogas energy in the process of cleaning the wastewater. The system of microbes converts wastewater into biogas at low temperature. The cleaned wastewater effluent is then suitable for release, under licence, into a watercourse.

The first installation of the technology was in 2016 at ABP Food Group’s Lurgan, Co Armagh plant.
